SHOT/CHASER: Obama Campaign Calls Laying Off 1,800 Workers “Successful And Innovative”

See these incredible comments from the Obama campaign calling Solyndra “successful and innovative” before and after the Department of Energy loan. This is the same Solyndra loan that was approved by the Obama administration despite repeated red flags and the same Solyndra that laid off 1,800 workers last year after getting more than $500 million in taxpayer dollars. All the Obama campaign’s bluster and spin won’t put Solyndra back together again and help the 1,800 workers who were laid off. Check out the Shot/Chaser below:

SHOT: Obama Campaign: Solyndra “Widely Praised As Successful And Innovative”: “The reality is that Solyndra received funding through a Department of Energy program created under the Bush administration — a program that has supported tens of thousands of jobs across the country and is moving forward with investments in innovative projects like the first nuclear plant built in the U.S. in decades and the world’s largest wind farm,” campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith said. “In fact, both Republican and Democratic administrations advanced Solyndra’s application, and the company was widely praised as successful and innovative both before and after receiving the Department of Energy loan guarantee.” (Detroit News, 7/18/12)

CHASER: A Total Of 1,861 Workers Were Laid Off By Solyndra As It Went Bankrupt. “Since September 1, 2010 (impact date), an estimate 1,861 workers have been separated from the firm. This total includes an estimated 649 temporary workers as well as leased workers from West Valley, Aerotek, Oxford Global, GES and Lighthouse Management. Most of these separations occurred at the time of the shut-down of the Fremont, CA facility on August 31, 2011. An additional 85 workers are threatened with separation as the company’s operations wind down.” (Employment And Training Administration, “Investigative Report TA-W-80,410; Solyndra LLC,” Department Of Labor, 9/12/11)
