Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) Shares His Regrets On ObamaCare
MSNBC’s Chuck Todd: “And finally I asked Senator Webb the question I posed to many of the departing lawmakers. Was there any one vote he would want back if he could do it all over again.”
Senator Jim Webb (D-VA): “My great regret on that is that I believe the whole health care issue could have been handled differently by the administration and over here. I think the way that the process was put forward without a clear set of principles from the administration caused a lot of fear in the country. We had seven different or five different committees boiling up 7,000 pages of contradictory information. At a time.”
MSNBC’s Chuck Todd: “So you regret the vote.”
Senator Jim Webb (D-VA): “At a time when the country was in a recession and people were talking about this other stuff. So I think that could have been different.”
MSNBC’s Chuck Todd: “Do you regret.”
Senator Jim Webb (D-VA): “I voted with the Republicans 18 times but in the end, I voted for it. I thought we do need to move forward. We need to find different ways to work with these issues. We could have had a smaller more focused package and the country would have been a lot more comfortable with the process, as well.” (MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown,” 8/20/12)
