Fmr. Clinton Pollster Slams Her Lack Of Media Access

Writing in Forbes, former Clinton pollster Douglas Schoen makes the case that Clinton’s inaccessibility and treatment of the media are to blame for voters belief that she is untrustworthy:

From corralling the media off at a Fourth of July event in New Hampshire to overtly avoiding answering critical questions from the press corps, Clinton’s campaign must go back to the drawing board on how it presents its message to the American public. Frankly, her campaign must more aptly decipher whether or not, in her own words, “people should and do trust [her].”

Given the bleakness of Quinnipiac’s latest polls, voters have resoundingly indicated that they expect a higher level of responsiveness out of the candidate. The process toward achieving this will surely involve some change in Clinton’s style. I know as well as anybody that she won’t do a complete about face, but even a little more openness will go a long way with voters who are questioning her trustworthiness and honesty. She owes Americans that.

And if the media is going to write more approvingly of her candidacy she needs to be more open, accessible and available. It’s just that simple.
