Obama Mixed Up On When To Give The Details
Obama Today: “When A Politician Tells You He’s Going To Wait Until After The Election, It’s Not Because Their Plan Is So Good That They Don’t Want To Spoil The Secret. That’s Usually Not What’s Going On.” OBAMA: “I’m going to let you in on a little tip. When a politician tells you he’s going to wait until after the election, it’s not because their plan is so good that they don’t want to spoil the secret. That’s usually not what’s going on.” (President Barack Obama, Remarks At A Campaign Event, Manchester, NH, 10/18/12)
Obama In 2010: Obama Advocated For Fiscal Details To Come Out After The Election. OBAMA: “Short term, you know, we don’t want to constrict too much early, but how can we get ourselves on a trajectory where, midterm and long term, we’re starting to bring our debt and deficits slowly under control? Now I set up a bipartisan fiscal commission that’s designed to start coming up with answers. And they’re supposed to report back to me right after the election. That was on purpose, by the way. We said: Don’t give us the answer before the election, because nobody will have an honest conversation about it; everybody’ll posture politically. But as soon as the election’s over, report to us, and let’s see if Democrats and Republicans can come together to make some tough decisions.” (President Barack Obama, Remarks On The Economy, Fairfax, VA, 9/13/10)
